Maharashtra Junior Girls are National Champions at Youth Para Goalball Championship 2026
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], August 25: At the National Youth Para Goalball Championship held at Nadiad, Gujarat from 20th to 23rd August 2026, the Maharashtra Junior Girls team won the Championship by clinching the Gold Medal. In this national championship, 10 blind girls teams and 11 blind boys teams from across the country participated. Overcoming all of them, the girls from Maharashtra etched their name on the trophy.
The foundation for this victory was laid in June. A special training camp was held on 25th June and the State Championship and selection trials were held from 26th to 28th June 2026 at Sindhu Bhavan, Ulhasnagar, Dist. Thane to select the Maharashtra team. For this selection process, Shri Pappu Kalani (Ex – MLA from Ulhasnagar, Naina Kalani, Smt. Kavita Lassi, Shri Manoj Lassi (Corporator – Ulhasnagar), Shri Hoshiyar Singh, Shri Mahesh Agarwal of Regency Group, Shri Amardeep Singh of Ronak Advertising, Shri Jashwant Mehta from Eye Bank Coordination and Research Centre (EBCRC) and Rotary Club Thane extended invaluable support.
Training was provided across the state from June to August 2026 through AIASHA Foundation – Sports Adventure for Differently Abled by Neha Nalin Pawaskar in collaboration with Para Blind Sports Association, Maharashtra. Nilay Saroj Patil – CEO of AIASHA said ” It is immensely gratifying to see the dedicated efforts invested by Neha Nalin Pawaskar and her team in organising the State Championships culminate into a Gold medal at the National .
