KREST is a startup vertical under Kakatiya Sandbox, a non profit organization working for the economic transformation of North Telangana co-founded by Raju Reddy (founder of Sierra Atlantic) and Phanindra Sama (founder of redBus).<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>10,000+\u00a0student\u00a0entrepreneurs\u00a0by\u00a02030<strong>,\u00a0<\/strong>scaling\u00a0to\u00a02\u00a0lakh\u00a0by\u00a02047<\/li>\n<li>500+\u00a0startups\u00a0supported\u00a0by\u00a02030<strong>,\u00a0<\/strong>growing\u00a0to\u00a010,000\u00a0by\u00a02047<strong>,\u00a0<\/strong>marking\u00a0100\u00a0years of India\u2019s Independence<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The inauguration marks the culmination of a vision first articulated nearly three years ago, when Mr. Rekhi committed to supporting the creation of a rural-focused incubation centre that would enable entrepreneurship <em>from\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0<em>for\u00a0<\/em>Bharat. Since then, sustained efforts by the KREST team and its ecosystem partners have translated that commitment into a fully realised institution dedicated to nurturing grassroots innovation and scalable startups.<\/p>\n<p>Announced in 2022, KREST was envisioned as more than just a physical space. While the building was being conceptualised and constructed, far more emphasis was placed on laying the foundation of a strong entrepreneurship ecosystem.<\/p>\n<p>Over the last three years<strong>,\u00a0<\/strong>KREST has begun creating meaningful on-ground impact through a range of focused initiatives, including\u00a0<strong>YUVA<\/strong>, its student entrepreneurship program designed to nurture entrepreneurial thinking early;\u00a0<strong>targeted funding support\u00a0<\/strong>for founders building solutions for rural and semi-urban India;\u00a0<strong>mentorship and exposure opportunities\u00a0<\/strong>for first-time entrepreneurs; and\u00a0<strong>Bridge2Bharat<\/strong>, a soft-landing program that enables startups to enter and scale across North Telangana.<\/p>\n<p>The newly inaugurated KREST Incubation Centre is designed to enable innovation to move from idea to impact. The facility includes modern co-working spaces, a fully equipped Makers Lab, dedicated office spaces for startups, and expo and demonstration areas. Inspiration-led infrastructure elements, such as the Kanwal Rekhi Wall, trace Mr. Rekhi\u2019s entrepreneurial journey and are intended to motivate and inspire young founders from the region.<\/p>\n<p>On this occasion\u00a0<strong>Mr.\u00a0Kanwal\u00a0Rekhi\u00a0said<\/strong>,\u00a0\u201cIt\u2019s\u00a0our\u00a0hope\u00a0that\u00a0KREST\u00a0can\u00a0play\u00a0a\u00a0critical\u00a0role in shaping India\u2019s entrepreneurial ecosystem, especially in rural India.
