Rare Gujarati Folk Dance Comes Alive: Film ‘Amba’ Releases New Song ‘Tippani Raas’
Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], October 26: Known for creating a distinct identity in Gujarati cinema, Vijaygiri FilmOs and NeemTree Entertainment have recently released the second new song, ‘Tippani Raas’, from their highly anticipated upcoming film ‘Amba’. Generally, a dance video is released first followed by a lyrical video, but Vijaygiri FilmOs is known for doing things differently every time. True to their style, they have released the lyrical video of the song first. While the video features Reeva Rachh alongside supporting artists, the final choreography and the true essence of the Tippani Raas will only be revealed when audiences watch the film in theaters. Alongside Reeva Rachh, the song also features Riddhi Dangar, Jhankhana Soni Patel, Charmi Kelaiya, and Shweta Patel. The film portrays the rich culture of the Gir region, glimpses of its traditional settlements (nehdas), and the unique emotional bond between the local people of Gir and lions.

The soul-stirring music of this song has been composed by the renowned musical duo Kedar-Bhargav, with lyrics penned by Bhargav Purohit. The song has been collectively voiced by Vrattini Purohit, Lipika Nag, Stuti Karni, Surbhi, Radhika, Kavya, Palak, and Anjali. To bring authenticity to this traditional art form, director Vijaygiri Bava handpicked locals from the Gir region itself, and local choreographer Krupa Dangar—who has been working on Tippani Raas for years—was chosen for the choreography.
Discussing the film’s creative team, it has been directed by Vijaygiri Bava, produced by Bhoomi Nathwani, and co-produced by Twinkle Vijaygiri. The original story has been written by Vijaygiri Bava, with dialogues by Raam Mori, and the screenplay co-crafted by Vijaygiri Bava and Raam Mori. Imbued with the earthy fragrance and rich culture of Gir, the film is all set to release in theaters across Gujarat this coming December.
Notably, Tippani Raas is an ancient folk dance native to Saurashtra, particularly the Chorwad and Veraval regions. In ancient times, a heavy wooden pounding tool called a tippani was used to rhythmically beat and compact lime plaster (gara) used in building foundations or upper flooring. To break the monotony of this heavy labor, workers would perform a dance alongside it, which is known today as the Tippani folk dance.
While such dance forms are mostly showcased on stages or at cultural events to represent Gujarati heritage, it is rare to see such an ancient folk dance integrated into a feature film. Vijaygiri Bava is a director deeply devoted to culture. Because he chose to feature such a unique dance form in the movie, the production house likely opted to launch a lyrical video instead of a direct dance video, generating immense excitement among audiences to witness the full performance on the big screen
